Like a booster shot...
Every year, we want to be a shot in the arm for Science Fiction film in Berlin, and abroad.
Art needs curators. Art needs professionals who understand the spirit and the business. Art needs constant renewal.
Every year, the Berlin Sci-Fi Filmfest sets out to hatch some new eggs, spawn some new ideas, infect the masses with a new dose of challenging ideas.
To free the mind...
It can get uncomfortable, being tied up between big budget Hollywood productions and trash films that don't even ask for respect. There needs to be more room for thoughtful science fiction films that push against constricting boundaries, to allow our natural human endowments to fill the void.
Nurture the imagination...
It is our goal to nurture and cultivate Science Fiction in Berlin and Brandenburg year round, through workshops, events, and sponsorship of artists. Berlin-Brandenburg has a new perspective on the future the world needs to hear about that is hopeful, green, and democratic.
And light the way.
The past wasn't so hot. We're burned out on nostalgia. It's the goal of the Berlin Sci-Fi Filmfest light a fire in the world of Science Fiction.
Cyborg Fritz is watching!
Old Cyborg Fritz would have wanted it this way. When the alien mothership hovered over the skies of Berlin after their homeworld was destroyed, did Fritz panic? No, he invited the aliens to settle in Berlin, to foster new ideas and help Berlin-Brandenburg to build a new world. So shall we!
